RE: How Not to be Seen
I am trying for a light alloy instead of wood outer armour covering on the main holder unit of a group entity - I am curious as will the sub-drones will be targeted more by radar missiles for example?

RE: How Not to be Seen
I made a small tank/submarine that basically uses propellers to stick to the bottom of the ocean

it just sits there occasionally moving and using sonar and radar buoys to find enemies and spam mines in their direction
It's only problem is anything that flys
this is the closest i've gotten to absolute stealth
also rubber is the most radar resistant material so far

RE: How Not to be Seen
I wouldn't really call it stealth, a vehicle on the bottom of the ocean will be hard to hit, if anything, and can only be detected by sonar and snoopers which many early craft aren't equipped with. I assume you would be smart enough not to use transmitters on a small "stealth" vehicle.

If aircraft are a problem try using small AA supercavitation rounds or missiles.

RE: How Not to be Seen
FTD stealth is not true stealth as FTD stealth is the ability to not be hit consistently and the ability to hide and the Sea Cucumber (that's the name) does that perfectly and it is fast

So a massive hulking battleship impossible to miss with detection that has very strong LAMS and shields making it impossible to damage would be stealthy? You can hide it behind a mountain.

Stealth in FtD is how your vehicle can confuse enemy detection enough to throw off their accuracy, like using decoys or rubber.

RE: How Not to be Seen
A mountain can pretty much confuse detection, not? Wink

I'm not sure exactly, many things in FtD ignore land, like even some weapons (they can sometimes fire through land, particularly lasers and PACs) I would think it would confuse visual and laser, maybe radar and sonar as well. Probably not IR Not sure exactly though.

RE: How Not to be Seen
There is a way to be completely invisible from visual sensors, see link below.

RE: How Not to be Seen
Just want to add that smoke counters laser range finders (and all other trackers unless that has been fixed/changed by now). This is especially useful for submarines as laser range finders do otherwise work under water
