Eagle Industries presents: Aegis II class cruiser

Welcome to Eagle Industries, a startup company that brings you the best brand spanking new military hardware out there. If you're looking for an honest, environmentally responsible product; you've come to the right place!

The fleet
All ships, submarines and flying machines are designed around a realistic, near-future tech style. As they are a representation of current and near-future tech, a number of design constraints are in place. Every ship is designed for a specific task in the fleet, be it naval bombardment, patrol, Anti-Air, anti-submarine, et cetera. Individual ships often excel at one or two tasks, but are inferior to others and thus need supporting. Furthermore, realistic design also imposes limits on the amount and kind of weapons used. I dislike the use of fast firing high gauge guns, or a ship that has every last bit of space used for offensive or defensive weapons. Every ship also has a trade-off in armour, so that it can remain reasonably bouyant without fear of submerging parts of the deck or even weapons during normal operations. Engine design is based around fuel efficiency. A ship gets the most fuel efficient engine it can support, since maritime operations require ships to be independent of refueling and restocking for long periods of time. Being near-future tech ships, LAMS are used, but offensive weapons are ruled out and the use of shields is limited. LAMS are furthermore underpowered, and need to stock in energy first since the limited engine power doesn’t allow for large LAMS installations to be used.

The only exception on the eco-friendly engines are on aircraft, since they usually don't have the space for a huge engine that only has a limited output, but even they should have more than a combat durability of around an hour or more (if they last that long). Furthermore, aircraft also use shields more.

Most units in the Eagle Industries catalogue are to some extent specialist weapons; either focussed on Anti-Air, Anti-Ship or Anti-Sub duties and being less suited against other targets. If not the Cruiser class, of which the Aegis II class light cruiser is the oldest. Despite the age of the hull, she has received various improvements in the course of her life, starting out as a bombardment vessel, with mediocre performance against anything airbourne or fast paced. The Aegis II hull is a refitted version, featuring three 200mm rapid fire cannons, three AA cannons (two of which fire 1200 rounds per minute) and an array of missiles and torpedoes. A sturdy and thick metal hull ensures maximum survivability. While she'll do pretty much everything, she'll excel at nothing. While perfectly able to perform her cruiser role, expect to get more bang out of your buck if you put forward a specialized unit. She'll also struggle against heavily armed and/or armoured targets and will struggle against orbiters. Nonetheless, she's a fine addition to any fleet and will perform her duty with pride.

Despite her armour, this cruiser is categorized as light due to her somewhat limited armament.

RE: Eagle Industries presents: Aegis II class cruiser
Lamb ships are getting way stronger lol, that thing takes out every single one of my ships other than my 40k block battleship (even takes out one of my 20k block battleships), gonna have to disect your guns and copy your stuff they just hurt so god damned much.

Going to have to download some of your battleships and see what they do to Legacy.
this seemed cruel yet satisfying after watching that thing tear all my ships apart lol

RE: Eagle Industries presents: Aegis II class cruiser
If you find this ship punishing, try the Vanguard super heavy frigate. She delivers even more pain (although she uses the same main guns). Good luck on improving your ships, and thanks for the compliment Smile

You really have done extremely well with the designs man, aesthetic but still completely battle ready and i don't even think it is shielded is it?
could still be way more powerful lol
I was expecting it to be a match for my HMAS Bunyip but no, it just rips all of my cruisers and all of my destroyers to pieces even HMAS titan hunter which is a heavily armoured and shielded/overbuilt destroyer which cost twice the materials as your ship.
(sank within a few minutes with your ship only at 90% health, just awesome)
Kinda really impressed, a few months back titan hunter was one of the most powerful 10k block ships in the game.

RE: Eagle Industries presents: Aegis II class cruiser
The Aegis has received some revisions and a new version has been uploaded to the OP. The following changes have been made:

- Changed armour; Instead of a two meter metal, 2 meter airgap and 1 m metal configuration, the Aegis now has 2 meters metal/alloy (1+1), 2m airgap and 1m metal armour. This has reduced weight by 500 Tonnes; which was necessary, because she had gained quite a bit of weight over the course of her lifetime.
- Exchanged missiles and torpedoes for new ones, increasing their effectiveness.

This will be the final update to the Aegis. She'll be replaced by the Intrepid class cruiser, shown in the picture below sitting alongside the Aegis:

Very nice and clean design, especially the shape of the hull! Big Grin Would deserve a bit more speed and maneuvrability. The cruiser looks even better!
