Sofa's Builds - Added Various WIPs
Sometimes, I build stuff. Aforementioned stuff is as follows. Please note that the following mods are required:

- After Cataclysm Core
- After Cataclysm Railings
- Dahaks Mods (APSA, LWC Adjustments, Prop Adjustments)
- Turret Heads
- Deco+
- Extended Slopes

Factions

Republic of Saritania
Once a small, obscure protectorate of a waning global power, Saritania is now in the clutches of a military dictatorship, with minister of defense Bartony Kruvik at its helm. As a part of the Magna Ludum setting, it may be subject to less-realistic builds.

Beirunese Commonwealth
This nation formed from a collection if island kingdoms has been connected to the rest of the world by trade. However, as war looms on the horizon, the Commonwealth begins to steel itself in preparation for whatever adversity may come. The Beirunese commonwealth is made for strictly realistic builds, adhering to the rules of Anmeberry Accord, and making use of more mods than its Magna Ludum counterpart.

(Special thanks to the folks behind the After Cataclysm mod, which I've taken to using extensively.)

Destroyers

Destroyer, D-10 class
Beirunese Commonwealth
  • Length: 92m
  • Beam: 9m
  • Mass: 917
  • Draft: 4m
  • Propulsion: 2x reciprocating steam engines
  • Top speed: 28 knots
  • Armor:
    - Deck: Reinforced wood
    - Hull: 1 layer alloy
    - Belt: 1 layer metal
  • Armament:
    - x3 12cm guns
    - x3 torpedo tubes
    - Depth charges
  • Cost: 19369
  • Volume: 3638
The D-10 class was devised just as the term "torpedo boat destroyer" was losing popularity. As such, being intended for use against small vessels, it is very lightly armed, sporting only three 12cm guns in addition to its torpedoes, as well as depth charges for use against submarines. Only not really, because the only way to make them is by using missiles and those are against the rules.

Destroyer, Blyzowka (Thunder) class
Republic of Saritania
  • Length: 103m
  • Beam: 13m
  • Mass: 1392
  • Draft: 5m
  • Propulsion: Turbo-electric transmission
  • Top speed: 36 knots
  • Armor:
    - Upper: 1 layer alloy
    - Lower: 1 layer metal
  • Armament:
    - x2 triple torpedo launchers
    - x3 12cm guns
    - x2 dual .50 caliber machine guns
  • Block count: 2534
  • Volume: 5436
Devised as a means of complimenting groups of larger, heavier warships with speed and maneuverability, as well as protection against small craft and submarines. So, basically the same as any destroyer ever.

Cruisers

Heavy Cruiser, Admiral Vostorin class
Republic of Saritania
  • Length: 193m
  • Beam: 23m
  • Mass: 9092
  • Draft: 7m
  • Propulsion: Reciprocating steam engine
  • Top speed: 25 knots
  • Armor:
    - Belt: 2 layers metal
    - Deck: 1 layer wood, 1 layer metal

    - x8 14.6cm guns
    - x4 triple 25mm AA
    - x6 twin .50cal machine guns
  • Aircraft: None (Planned: x1 scout-observation floatplane)
  • Cost: 136773
  • Volume: 30029

Upgraded from the tentative "A-class" cruiser. Named after Saritania's current Marshal Admiral and commander-in-chief of the Republic's Southern Fleet, Grigori Vostorin, she is the latest and most advanced ship in Saritania's naval arsenal. Even though it's the first one I built, even though upgrades came way later.

Light Cruiser, Luvyalko class
Republic of Saritania
  • Length: 156m
  • Beam: 15m
  • Mass: 2827
  • Draft: 5m
  • Propulsion: Reciprocating steam engine
  • Top speed: 27 knots
  • Armor:
    - Belt: 1 layer metal, 1 layer alloy
    - Deck: 1 layer wood, 1 layer alloy
  • Armament:
    - x5 14.5cm guns
    - x4 10cm guns
    - x2 triple launchers
    - x4 triple 25mm AA
  • Cost: 54249
  • Volume: 11745

An older vessel predating the Republic, the Luvyalko was designed as Saritania's mainstay light cruiser. Four 25mm autocannon turrets were recently added in response to the ever-increasing threat of enemy aircraft.

  • Mass: 2829
  • Draft: 5m
  • Propulsion: 2x reciprocating steam engines
  • Top speed: 22.5 knots
  • Armor:
    - Deck: Reinforced wood
    - Hull: 1 layer metal
    - Internal armored deck: 1 layer metal
  • Armament:
    - x6 14.5cm guns
    - x10 12cm guns
    - x6 torpedo tubes (below waterline)
  • Cost: 48319
  • Volume: 9841

An older vessel, built on the concept of trading a thick armored belt for a relatively thin armored deck just beneath the waterline. For its class, the Warunakki class can make decent speed, but is relatively lightly armed

Battleships

Battlecruiser, Botonga class
Beirunese Commonwealth
  • Length: 212m
  • Beam: 27m
  • Mass: 11611
  • Draft: 7m
  • Propulsion: Reciprocating steam engine
  • Top speed: 25 knots
  • Armor:
    - Belt: 2 layers metal
    - Deck: Reinforced wood
  • Armament:
    - x12 32cm guns (6 turrets)
    - x8 150mm casemate guns
    - x8 88mm anti-aircraft guns
  • Cost: 201317
  • Volume: 39144

First and foremost, the navy of the Beirunese Commonwealth has served to protect her commerce, ensuring the survival of the home islands. To this end, they considered a warship's range and speed to be paramount, leading to their investment in the battlecruiser concept. The first of these was the Botonga class. Though not the fastest, nor most heavily armed, the Botonga class battlecruisers had a particular focus in their rate of fire. The main battery sported 32cm guns, somewhat smaller than the standard 35 to 40cm guns in use by other navies at the time, but consisted of twelve guns between six turrets, allowing for an emphasis on saturating fire: A trait the Commonwealth navy believed would be especially useful against nimble commerce raiders.

Carriers

Seaplane Tender, Annahtu class
Beirunese Commonwealth
  • Length: 150m
  • Beam: 19m
  • Mass: 4782
  • Draft: 6m
  • Propulsion: Reciprocating steam engine
  • Top speed: 18 knots
  • Armor: Reinforced deck, 1 layer metal hull
  • Armament:
    - x2 8.8cm guns
    - x2 25mm anti-aircraft guns
  • Cost: 116124
  • Volume: 21524

With tensions mounting the world over, the Beirunese Commonwealth stepped up their measures to defend their trade routes, fearing that their vital maritime commerce could be caught in the crossfire. With the time it would take to lay down more escort vessels to cover their vast web of shipping lanes, the role in the interim would be taken by long-range aircraft. Cargo ships were outfitted to rearm and refuel these aircraft, greatly expanding their range, and potentially allowing patrol squadrons to accompany convoys. The first purpose-built seaplane tenders in Beirunese service were the Annahtu and her sister ships, which featured catapults intended to launch aircraft in all weather conditions. The host of problems that would later be discovered, such as the ships' inability to keep pace with the convoy, would prompt development of escort carriers.

Couldn't figure out an AI setup for launching and receiving patrol aircraft, so their operations require some manual control. Launching aircraft while the ship is moving can result in a collision, and the ACBs near the catapults must be used to turn them outboard, so make sure the ship is stopped and the catapults are ready before launching. Also the AI on these aircraft leave more to be desired.

Submarines

Submarine, S-37 class
Republic of Saritania
  • Length: 93m
  • Beam: 13m
  • Mass: 1167
  • Propulsion: Fuel/Electric engine
  • Top speed:
    - Surface: 23 knots
    - Submerged: 16 knots
  • Armor:
    - Upper: 1 layer alloy
    - Lower: 1 layer metal
  • Armament:
    - x2 Torpedo tubes
    - 4" deck gun
    - x2 dual .50 caliber machine guns
  • Block count: 1278
  • Volume: 3033

Saritania's submarine fleet was first developed to watch for enemy incursion into their waters. As such, the S-37's original role was to conduct patrols and sink intruders, but has since found its niche as a commerce raider. At least, it would, were it not for the fact that any ship can sink subs with regular cannons and no sonar.

Others

Armored Frigate, Boa-Kua
Beirunese Commonwealth
  • Length: 117m
  • Beam: 17m
  • Mass: 1931
  • Draft: 4m
  • Propulsion: Reciprocating steam engine
  • Top speed: 14 knots
  • Armor: Wood with metal plating amidships, 1 layer metal citadel
  • Armament:
    - x4 300 pound cannons (2 turrets)
    - x18 68 pound cannons (broadside)
  • Cost: 27972
  • Volume: 12642

Initially laid down as a 46-gun steam frigate, the performance of ironclads demonstrated during the battle of Anmeberry in 681 prompted the Beirunese to convert her midway through her construction. Modifications included the addition of a metal prow, iron plating over her midsection, and trading of thirty of her 68-pounder broadside cannons for four 300-pounder rifles, mounted between two turrets on her deck. Her strangest feature at the time was her superstructure amidships, featuring an armored pilothouse with a command bridge on top. With some of her wooden hull remaining uncovered, a means of letting her retain her speed, she was considered a "semi-ironclad", making her status as the first Beirunese ironclad only partly accurate. Having never engaged any enemy vessels, her career as an escort was brief, as advancing technology had her replaced only a few years into her service, relegating her to coastal defense duty, and then as a heritage and training vessel in 738.

Nice, i like how German it looks.

As for campaigns, the WWII Lite campaign should be pretty nice for this, it's got completely fictional designs and doesn't allow for missiles or shields.

ty; Yeah, the Admiral Hipper class was one source of reference, though I took a good deal of design cues from the Algérie and the Mogami class as well.

Also WWII Lite was something I was thinking of, but iirc ships have to be scaled down.

I really like it, but I feel like those secondaries have far too small fields of fire. You'd be better off just with casemate guns with that setup!

RE: Sofa's Builds (For real this time)
Finals are over. Told myself to make a destroyer or torpedo corvette. Made this instead. Also thinking of switching physics settings to Earth approximation and re-optimizing for that but iunno

Submarine, S-37 class
  • Length: 93m
  • Beam: 13m
  • Mass: 1167
  • Propulsion: Fuel/Electric engine
  • Top speed:
    - Surface: 23 knots
    - Submerged: 16 knots
  • Armor:
    - Upper: 1 layer alloy
    - Lower: 1 layer metal
  • Armament:
    - Torpedoes (missile)
    - 4" deck gun
    - x2 dual .50 caliber machine guns
  • Block count: 1278
  • Volume: 3033

The first thing I built after getting back into FTD was a big, slow, conspicuous heavy cruiser. Naturally, I figured something small and hard to spot would be an ideal compliment. The S-37 class was built as a means of scouting ahead of the fleet, and conducting hit-and-run raids while it would approach. I've yet to see if it's any good as a commerce raider.

Yeah, I was debating on their positioning whilst designing the thing and figure they need to be moved; most likely going to have them swap places with the main AA battery.

These are stunning, truly. I really love some of your deck details - I've never thought of using ammo clips as chains before, and the heavy cruiser's superstructure is really well balanced. I might have to steal that radar design while I'm... studying... your heavy cruiser. Tongue
