New ship and it`s a relatively large one this time Big Grin

Caliburn-Class Armoured Dreadnought
[Image: ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg]
[Image: ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg]

Firepower:
-Eight 253mm dual gun turrets firing HESH
-Fifteen 165mm dual gun turrets firing HEAT
-Twenty Six 120mm single gun mounts firing APDS
-Four 84mm barbettes firing AP

Overview:
-Broadside Vessel
-Decent armor
-Lots of guns.... lots
-Large amount of engine power
-25.5m/s top speed
-Cheap
-Plenty of remaining space and engine power

Lore Synopsis:
It was evident that wasting resource on multiple different one-off capital ships was a fruitless effort. As such BFN sought to develop a mass-producible, cheap yet effective standardized warship. It was to be of decent size with sizable firepower comparable to the Archenemy. Most importantly it was to built off of pre-existing zeppelin technology to lesson the cost and strengthen the ease of manufacturing. The design council gave the approval and construction went underway. The first vessel was struck a short time after and was launched for combat testing.

During initial trial and basic capabilities testing the design proved to be immensely capable. The engine set-up in particular was of note. The power-plant was superior to even the Nemesis-class despite being one fifth of the cost it had similar internal space. Alterations were noted for the production variant and the prototype was sent off to the final trial. The final trial was a live fire combat exercise pitting the Protype airship against a modernization of the Archenemy-class. No crew was aboard and instead each ship would be operated off site by remote control. The trial was intended to serve as a gauge for the Vessels damage resilience and effectiveness under fire from a opposing similar warship. For the Archenemy it was firing practice to test the new upgrades and gauge the fighting capability against a more modern vessel.

The trial began at 2200 hours. An hour into the engagement and both vessels had lost various secondary guns and had minor hull fractures, it was noted that the explosion of 120mm secondaries to the right of the fore-most 250mm main gun on the prototype detonated disabling it. 5 hours into the test there was a large explosion that came from the Archenemy. It was larger than the prior shell strikes and came from inside the shielding. Analysts determined it was the detonation of central ammo store. 7 hours in and the Archenemy ceased firing, ammo production had halted confirming the detonation. 15 hours in and the Archenemy began capsizing and started dropping altitude. The trial ended shortly after and a salvage crew was sent to start disassembling the Archenemy.
Analysts were stunned at the results of the trial, the Prototype vessel had came out on top by a dramatic margin, only receiving the initial damages at the beginning. It was determined that the vessel had far exceeded it`s surmised capabilities. Mass production was further pushed and there is currently 12 planned. The class of ship was named the Caliburn and is currently being implemented into active service on the frontlines.
This also marks the strangest situation in BFN history where engineers and shipwrights were able to work on a ship for 8 months (Hours our time) straight on the same looping music. How they didn`t go insane bewilders even the most knowledgeable psycologists on Neter

Revenant-Class Armored Cruiser

Firepower:
- 3 Dual 200mm gun turrets firing Hollow Point Fragmentation shells
- 3 Dual 125mm gun turrets firing APCR
- 2 Dual 77mm gun turrets firing APCR
- 2 Six-Barreled AA gatlings firing APDS
- 4 94mm guns firing APHE
- 2 launchers firing three 5m long IR missiles
- 2 missile turrets Six 8m long IR missiles

Overview:
-Broadside vessel
-Despite the name it`s not actually all that armored, it just appears that way.
-No shielding (Though it could have it)
-Average Firepower
-Decent Mobility
-Decent Turning radius
-Rolling Instabilities can appear if the rotors take a hit.

Lore Synopsis:
To complement the Caliburn-Class Dreadknoughts it was decided to make a similar smaller vessel to support it as an escort. The hull was taken from an repurposing an older incomplete project. After slight modifications arming and fitting commenced. The initial vessel would prove to be problematic to design. While the engine power was decent, the ship had a high center of mass and thus easily rolled in a crosswind. The Long 203mm guns firing conventional HESH/HEAT ammunition also could not be implemented due to limitations on round length and barrel size. It was initially planned to have cannons on the underside along with a secondary command deck, but the plan was scrapped due to the higher than expected weight and insufficient room for the magazines. Instead missile turrets were placed instead of guns and a conning tower in place of the command deck. The ships armor was also not up to expectations. However the ship was pushed into service. The first 4 and currently only vessels made sit docked at the mouth of the Eriwick Canal along with the hull of the developing 4th Caliburn-Class, Crossguard.
The vessels have only seen combat in live fire tests and a brief skirmish with an Onyx Watch Mercantile fleet. Thus the vessels capabilities have not been tested.

Note* Not exactly satisfied with this ship, as you can read by the lore. The hull looks good but the ship became problematic after the hull was done. Hence why I`m not eager to put shields and set firing restrictions on it. Though I guess it performs adequately but I digress.

Meteor-Class Missile Cruiser

Firepower:
- Missiles, Lots of missiles.
- A large amount of VT missiles
- 3 triple missile turrets and 1 single missile turret
- 2 triple side mounted missile pods
- Two Missile tubes at the front.

Overview:
-Bombardment broadside vessel.
-Missile spam, in an aesthetical way.
-Goes 43m/s

Lore Synopsis:
After the excavation and salvaging of various vessels at the bottom of the sea floor a thorough investigation was conducted into the vessels past and technology. One thing evident from the early evaluations was the immense use of missiles. The older technology had apparently had a unique way of loading missiles faster but the analysts were not able to replicate the intended effects.

Intrigued by these older vessels use of large volleys of missiles, the design bureau initiated a design trial to test the effectiveness of a solely missile-based airship. The trial design would feature multiple different attributes and various weapon set-ups and platforms. It was determined that missile turrets were the most reliable in terms of firing ability and space, however it achieved less than satisfactory results with volumetric fire. Vertically launched missiles, from the deck achieved large amounts of fire and could easily be sustained in a combat scenario, however it was noted that a larger launchers would be needed to launch a bigger payload. Of note was the attachable missile pods and bow tubes which could launched reasonably lengthed missiles but only from the front.

The vessel was merely a test of concept but did see combat as an EMP support during a brief expedition in White Flayers Territory. A variant for combat situations was taken into consideration, but ultimately the resuscitated "MissilePug" program was determined to be sufficient in covering for the role.

Basically this entire post is just vessels i`m not necessarily satisfied with... Their not failures but they just didn`t have that intended oomph to them. It`s what happens I guess. I am interested though, I have bigger failures lurking on my constructables folder... Should I post them or just not even bother? Or should I go back to them and spruce them up? It`s what I did with the Myriad, and really now I can argue the Archenemy so it`s no problem to me. I`m even bringing back older ships that I have from my beginner days in from the depths... Just with a "Spin" on them... Or should I say in them? Big Grin

New ship Big Grin

Adversary-Class Pocket Battleship

[Image: ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg]

Firepower:
- 2 Dual 360mm gun turrets firing HESH (Squash head) shells
- 2 Single 360mm gun turrets firing HESH shells
- 12 Dual 165mm gun turrets firing HESH shells
- 7 6 barrelled AAA gatlings firing HVAP rounds (Composite head sabot body)
- 10 AA autocannons firing ball(?) rounds
- 6 Triple missile launcher racks firing IR Frag missiles

Overview:
- Broadside vessel
- Sustainable, consistent shell output
- Decently powerful 360mm ordinance
- 30m/s~ speed
- Meh turning radius
This is a new part I`m going to be adding from here on, just a brief idea of how I think the ship handles.
The Adversary-class of battleships focus on sustainable devastating firepower. It puts out a 360mm shell every 4~ seconds and is accurate to about 0.445 rating. Meant to rain damage from afar, this vessel is the leading damage dealer in my most current arsenal. relatively frail without the shields with immensely volatile ammunition stores and magazines the ship does not take large scale retaliatory fire well. Keep it supported by armored vessels to distract fire and it`ll perform soundly.
*Note, do NOT let it go further than it`s pre set broadside range, it`ll turn inward to close the gap but the fore most cannon will shoot the front deck causing massive self damage.

Lore Synopsis
After the Second Battle of Cold Loch, it was clear that their would need to be a new line of capital ships to take to the front lines. The Caliburn-class and Nemesis-class were capable vessels at taking damage and critically damage enemy vessels, but lacked the necessary raw firepower to effectively finish off enemy vessels. Battles became more prolonged as the Onyx Watch`s fleets bulked up. What was going to be a blitz became a slow bogged down advance fighting through droves of slow, tank-y Castle Ships. No ships were lost in the campaign to the Onyx throne but fuel shortages caused by the prolonged battles where the Nemesis and Caliburn were running severely cut any progress after.

After the Onyx Watch were stifled, the design bureau quickly began work on a new design proposal for the BFN navy. Following the heavy changes to the design doctrine, the wrights set forth to develop a new line of vessel that would possess immense firepower at a cheap cost. Named Adversary to follow suite with vessels similar in Classification, it began air trials shortly after commission. Firing tests against Marauders, Jacobs Delights and Plunderers all provided satisfactory results of the ordinance against wooden targets. To bypass the remaining testing it was decided that the Adversary class, piloted by an AI, would fight a Kingstead in a live fire test to closely simulate live combat scenarios. The only damage sustained was the rear number 2 centerline 165mm turret clipping a shell in the deck in front of it. Immensely satisfied with the results, the line of ship is slated for heavy usage in the campaign against the White Flayers, Steel Striders and Grey Talons.

Yeah was thinking along those lines. Pocket battleship probably fits it, since that was one of my inspirations in this build, gimme a sec, changing the title Big Grin

RE: Black Flag Naval Air-stead (Fleet BP dump) NEW: Adversary-Class Pocket battleship
Got bored last night so I decided to throw together a small craft that I could use for the early game. This is the result:

Raider-Class PT boat
[Image: ?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg]
Firepower:
- Four 7m long IR missiles with 3 frag warheads fired from the side mounted missile tubes
- One Quad missile turret firing 6m long IR missiles containing 2 frag warheads
- One 32mm Gatling cannon firing a Composite/Sabot blend-y shell
- 4 Autocannon AAA guns

Overview:
- OMG Surprise! It`s not a broadside vessel
- Top speed is about 44m/s
- Shielded only in the front and is immensely `explodable.
- Turning radius is super small
- The missiles can acquire and close in from most angles that they fire from.
- Chhheeeeepp

A cheap early game vessel, goes decently fast compared to a lot of my older ships. Use it to bully ships that have no AA coverage and annoy the stuffing out of larger vessels. Probably could be outfitted with bombs, I`mma think on it.

Lore Synopsis:
Small, scout oriented vessels are a bit of a rarity in the BFN navy. However, tucked away ready to respond to any threats that come upon the supply fleets are the patrol and air guard fleets backed by the ever reliable Raider-type PT boat. The ships are uncanny in a navy centered around long range firepower as they rely on their speed and small size to close the distance and commence missile bombardment runs at close range. Not frequently seen, these vessels protect the supports needed to fuel the BFN navy. Their high octane, dangerous roles further exemplified by brave and cunning crew who commandeer these vessels. The sort of people who live for the challenge. The craziest of the DWG, those sort of men and women willing to take their semi-disabled sledge play a game of chicken with a Aerial Gunship and win... With nothing but the torpedoes, that is the mettle you need for this job.
"We are expendable, this boat only has one speed and one direction; Fast and where the gunfire comes from. There is no retreat, as we are all that stands between them and our life line. We keep on dodging and weaving, we stop everything else halts. So we shall never stop, lest the enemy flee or fall, for that is the weight of our duty." The Wolfpack oath, recited before every battle.
Operating since the initial stages of the SAN landings, these vessels have more service time than any other vessel in it`s recorded history.

NICE. I'm currently going through a mostly aerial campaign as well, so this might come in handy for a wolfpack of sorts, as long as she's AI controlled. Also, black lagoon yuss! I just finished the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 OVA series personally so I'm focusing on creating absurdly overpowered fleet battleships right now =P Also, I really like the way the Revenant looks, and it's kind of a shame that it doesn't work that well. Mind if I give it a pass, install some different guns, and see what happens?

Shields? *noncommital shrug*
