RE: [Blackwater Foundry] Catalogue - New: Venom-class PT boat
Here at Blackwater we always make an effort to keep our designs up to date and on the cutting edge. Our Abyss-class attack submarine a pinnacle of our navy when it was introduced, however in recent times it has fallen behind, as our foes designs have grown more powerful and more resilient. Hence it was decided that the Abyss was in line for a refit. The following changes have been made to the submarine:

-Removed the repair blob subvehicle (I always felt a little cheaty for having it there)
-Removed 50k RP worth of fuel tanks (lol)
-Nerfed the cruise missiles (Changed from LUA guided to radar guided)

+Rebuilt the exterior of the supercav turret and added a turret well
+Added 12 14 block torpedoes for a total of 24 torpedoes
+Added a 4x8m torpedo missile turret
+Added extensive armour throughout the sub, increasing armour from 1m metal to 2-4m metal
+Moved ammo cache to the rear of the vessel
+Added detection
+Added extensive defensive systems including 5 anti-torpedo missile turrets and sonar decoys
+Added a small bridge (More like a cockpit really)
+Added additional detailing to the hull
+Fresh coat of paint

RE: [Blackwater Foundry] Catalogue - New: Abyss attack sub refit
Very intimidating builds you have here, gotta take a close look later on. Big Grin

Just a question: are you satisfied with the aim of the supcav gun? I am still struggling with getting mine to work...AI seems to be a tad too slow to use those properly, especially vs. surface targets.

RE: [Blackwater Foundry] Catalogue - New: Abyss attack sub refit
Cheers!

Re the supercav gun, the old Abyss used an AP only round as it was the least affected by the poor aim associated with using supercav, and could reliably hit surface targets out to about 2.5km, and air targets out to 4km, the new one uses HEAT rounds which are much more affected by the underwater accuracy loss so while its more powerful it's also much shorter range, really only coming into its strength about 1km from the target (It can hit airships at much longer range due to less travel time in water).

Not much you can do about it though unfortunately, so just gotta deal with the reduced range.

RE: [Blackwater Foundry] Catalogue - New: Abyss attack sub refit
Yeah i figured. I use 2 different shell types on my U-Boot prototype right now, one uses relatively slow and inaccurate inertiafrags, the other one sabots. Works, sort of. I am not satisfied yet and still searching for a workaround, without crippling the range too much.

Looking at your builds (and others in this subforum) I might just scrap mine and use their resources better, producing yours from that. That goes for all contributors. Big Grin

Noting a need for a cheap, light AA surface vessel. Blackwater engineers decided to modify an existing hull rather than build a new ship from scratch. The Venom-class PT boat was the perfect candidate.

Stripping out the primary cannon for a missile battery and adding pontoons that each carried a powerful anti-air cannon, while retaining the powerful torpedoes for strike against surface craft, the new Vessel was dubbed the Toxin-class light AA, and is a potent craft against even the strongest of air targets, while remaining cheap and hardy enough to be deployed anywhere, any time.

I'm pretty happy with this thing but honestly by virtue of the missile battery it's way more powerful than the Venom against everything (not just air), to the point where it's probably completely OP for it's size and cost. Anything small just gets instantly spaghetti on haha.

----------

Blackwater Haven recently established contact and trade with the Cambrington Sovereignty, a nation on the planet Magna Ludum. After purchasing Blackwater gunship technology, CS and BWH became allies, and established trade. The base hull of the next design was first built by Cambrinton engineers, who were attempting to build an advanced multi-purpose fighter. The project fell by the wayside however until it was eventually spotted by Blackwater's Lt. Commander Haddock, the man leading BWH forces on Magna Ludum. Noticing the unfinished hull bore a striking resemblance to BWH planes, with forward swept wings and aggressive lines, Haddock asked the Cambrington engineers if his own engineers may adopt and finish the design. CS agreed, and the end result was the Crossfire multitrole fighter.

Posessing a powerful 80mm rotary cannon for large targets and two small racks of powerful missiles, the Crossfire excels at punching holes in large, slow targets, but can engage almost anything. It is also cheap, and quite hardy, able to take a respectable beating before finally being shot down.

Pretty happy with this overall. The original fuselage + gun were made by Finnwolf, then I Blackwaterised it and finished the design. It's reasonably strong and gives you a good bit of bang for your buck.

Let me know what you guys think!

RE: [Blackwater Foundry] Catalogue - New: Toxin Light AA boat + Crossfire fighter
Introducing the latest of our line of skimmer attack craft: The Baleful-class skimmer.

Learning from our previous experience with the Malevolence-class, we determined that the next skimmer built by Blackwater would utilise primarily missiles and turreted weapons. This would allow it to overcome the primary weakness of the Malevolence, which was it's vulnerability to large calibre shells while making an attack run. The result is the Baleful-class, a fast attack skimmer with 360 degree coverage for all its weapons.

Featuring a 6x71mm gatling turret, 10 3m VLS missiles, 40 4m VLS missiles, and 12 forward launched 7m medium range missiles, the Baleful is capable of launching an almost constant stream of death at any target within 1400m. The missiles, while small, are often able to overwhelm LAMS defences with sheer numbers, and whittle through even the thickest of armour, while the Baleful uses its high speed and low profile to stay out of harm's way.

Defensively, the Baleful-class festures shielding and flares, and armour that, while lighter than the Malevolence, is still respectable. But it's most useful defensive feature it its speed. With a combat speed of 75ms and a cruising speed of up to 90ms, the Baleful is fast enough to outrun most missiles and evade the majority of weapons fire that could pose a threat to it.

Cost: 60k mats

The Baleful is a powerful addition to Blackwater's line of fast attack ships, and will be hitting battlefields across the galaxy in the coming days.

A Baleful escorted by two Malevolence MK II engaging enemies on Neter

Pretty happy with how this turned out. It's very powerful, if more fragile than the Malevolence MK II, and the fact that it's an orbiter rather than a frontal assault vehicle makes it much harder for battleships and the like to kill it. I also love the look of the missile spam, even if theyre teeny tiny short range missiles.

Feedback appreciated!

Introducing the Cataclysm-class Strategic Bomber.

Considered the final word in anti-surface operations, the Cataclysm is what you call in when Griftens and Rifts are at their limit. To be destroyed by a Cataclysm-class is an honour bestowed upon only the most worthy of opponents. It is not unheard of for an enemy captain to spot the distinctive silhouette and intimidating shape of a Cataclysm-class on the horizon and simply turn tail rather than attempt to fight the craft.

Featuring a wide variety of weapons suited to any surface target, the Cataclysm is a flying death machine in every sense of the word. 72 fragmentation gravity bombs, 14 cruise missiles, 16 AA missiles, 18 high speed torpedoes, a twin-linked heavy AA turret, and an interchangeable loadout of either three 2m CRAM bomb launchers or three 'Slam' Groundward PAC cannons give the Cataclysm enough punch to destroy anything that sails the seas or roves the land.

The Cataclysm is often seen escorted by Scythe-class heavy fighters, are these are some of the only aircraft capable of keeping pace with the bomber. With a top speed of 145ms, the majority of enemy aircraft and missiles are simply left in its jetwake before being destroyed by a barrage of missiles and flak.

In addition to the usual defences of shields and flares, the Cataclysm also features something special. It possesses an experimental Phase-shift Missile Evasion System. A miniaturised version of the warp drives used by Blackwater's interstellar craft, this system allows the Cataclysm to warp a short distance above an incoming missile barrage, usually evading the entire volley in the process, while having no effect on the efficacy of the attack run.

The cataclysm-class is by far one of the deadliest Blackwater craft to roam the skies, and will be on sale to select customers in the coming weeks.

I'm really happy with this plane overall, it's strong as hell and my first time trying to build a warp drive, which works great for it's intended purpose (Evading missile blobs). It has some kinks which I've had difficulty ironing out but overall I'm stoked with it. I like the PAC version a bit better as it's more reliable than the CRAM cannons, which often don't have a firing angle, but both have advantages and disadvantages. Also cheers to Finnwolf for the heavy AA turret!

Feedback is welcome!

That looks really powerful.

I remember when I built a Stratofortress back with infinite fuel supplies. It never worked since I didn't understand roll thrusters a year ago.

A force as voracious as time itself.
A void as cryptic as reality itself.
An enigma as vexing as life itself.
