The balloon/helium/lighter-than-air thread to end all threads

RE: The balloon/helium/lighter-than-air thread to end all threads
Can we have a lighter than air block that is ultra fragile?

Then we just stuff the lighter than air wool into enclosed spaces to simulate gas volume. For extra fun make it mildly explosive with a 1 block radius because Hindenburg.

We have lore for lighter than air wool in zyonix's thread here:

I already suggested something like that.

Why is this not implemented yet? Give them always upwards force like the dediblade option and reuse one of the storage container models.

"I tried being normal, but it got boring, so I went back to being me."
PS: Please make all keys in FTD remappable. Remappable while in game would be even better.

I just watched Mythbusters.

Simple airship part. Make a giant American football. Fill with 100psi of helium. Make density lighter than air.
Profit!

Anyone up for modding it?

We have the balloons, but I was thinking we could use special negative weight "blocks" that would represent the gas bags of an airship, here's an illustration;

I was thinking that we could have two kinds of distinct blocks like this; Helium and hydrogen "blocks". Hydrogen blocks would be cheaper and provide more lift-per-volume, while helium blocks would not, well... explode violently when poked at.

(Copy-pasted this from a suggestion thread that I made, not realizing this one existed. If someone of you has posted the very same idea before, my apologies.)

Anyway, opinions, thoughts, suggestions?

This would prob be really easy to mod. Just give the block a negative weight property. Tongue

But would they stop generating lift as gravity falls off? O:

Sometimes finishes things.

Most likely as i think space brings the weight modifier to 0.

Yes... but, on a second thought, these blocks would need a way t regulate their weight, to awoid floating higher than intended. Like how real airships regulate the amounts of gas in their gas cells.
